Everybody’s Talking About Jamie: A Review

As you all know by now, I *love* going to the theatre. I just think it’s just a fancy evening out, for a date night or with some friends. It’s such a lovely way to spend an evening, even if it is slightly hard to plan dinner (what’s with the bang-on start time of 7.30pm?!). I’ve recently been working with London Box Office and they kindly gifted me a pair of tickets* to watch the phenomenal show Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

I really didn’t expect to like Everybody’s Talking About Jamie as much as I did. I’d heard amazing things about the show, although someone did tell me that they thought it was rip-off on Billy Elliott. However, I couldn’t disagree more! Firstly, because the show is based on the BBC3 programme called Jamie: Drag Queen at 16, and secondly, I thought the show was ~incredible~ simply because the songs were so catchy (I’m still listening to the soundtrack days later), and the storyline was super easy to follow. Sometimes the theatre overcomplicates the story so it can be quite difficult to keep up with different characters.

I thought the whole show had a completely different vibe to it, and I enjoyed watching each and every character. I especially liked the fact that whole show started in a classroom and it very much focused on the stress that most 16 year old’s have when it comes to deciding what they want to do in their lives. It also focused on Jamie and how his decision to do something that required so much courage and bravery that not all 16 year old’s have.

All in all, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie was a loveable and heart-warming show, and I would go again in a heartbeat, which is not something I often say!

Have you ever seen Everybody’s Talking About Jamie? What did you think of it?

*I was kindly gifted these tickets from London Box Office. As usual, my views are my own. Please see my disclaimer for more info.
