Feeling Good with Teapigs


It’s probably not a huge secret and being British it’s possibly expected, but I am a huge tea fan. I just love the stuff, whether that’s first thing in the morning, last thing at night or bang in the middle of the day. My favourite is the typical classic English Breakfast tea, just because you can’t go wrong with it! Bit of milk, and two sugars YUM. Since working in central London and in a busy office, a caffeine hit has become too frequent for my liking.

So you can imagine my total surprise and joy when teapigs contacted me to ask if I could try out some of their new range of #feelgoodteas*. The #feelgoodteas include: the clean n green tea, the up-beet tea, and the snooze tea. I’ve also started to look out my health and fitness a lot more (which you can read here), so the fact that they were #feelgoodteas were just perfect!

My first reaction when opening my parcel from teapigs was the incredible smell coming from the package. All three teas had beautiful strong smells, and even now when opening my cupboard it’s the first thing you smell. The packaging is also lovely, it’s their classic packets of tea, but the tea temples are so different to any other tea I’ve tried. The tea itself is so colourful and the temples feel very luxurious!


I have been drinking the teas everyday for around a week now so I thought it was the right time to write up exactly how I felt drinking them. The teas were designed to fit in around your average day wherever you work or even if you don’t work at all! The green tea is to be consumed in the morning, the up-beet tea is for an afternoon hit, and the snooze is for bedtime.

Clean N Green Tea


 By drinking this tea first thing in the morning, it is designed to help you detox, and boy does it! The tea is made of lemongrass, ginger, green tea, liquorice root, coconut pieces, dandelion leaves, lemon peel, natural flavourings, and marigold flower petals. All of these unique flavours give it a light and slightly sweet taste. It is not as strong as I thought it would be given the smell of the tea itself, and it was really refreshing. The really great thing is that you can have it hot like you would with a normal tea, or iced by making is as normal and adding ice cubes. Genius!

Up-Beet Tea


If you have ever felt that insane lack of energy after lunch, then this is the tea for you! This tea is designed to give you a boost and it is perfect for a pre-gym workout, as well as a great replacement for a coffee or sugary drink that I would normally drink when I feel that all-too-familiar post-lunch slump. Made from hibiscus, ginger, green tea and beetroot (hence ‘up-beet‘), it wasn’t my favourite taste. However it does taste quite sweet and I got used to the taste even if it wasn’t my favourite. I definitely wasn’t craving any sweet drinks or snacks for a good few hours!



In case you hadn’t guessed from the name, this tea helps you sleep. This tea was the one I was most excited about because I’ve struggled with my sleeping pattern. I am going to write a longer blog post about my recent insomnia as I’ve been using some new products for it so watch out for that! This tea is made with chamomile, lavender and apple, and it smells quite strongly of lavender, which did at first slightly put me off. But I got used to the smell because it doesn’t taste at all strongly of lavender, so it’s just like having something great to smell at the same time! I can definitely confirm that it sends you straight to the land of nod – if anyone is having trouble sleeping, you have to try this!

Pampering Yourself: 10 Top Tips for a Spa Day at Home


Man this post has been a ~long~ time coming!

If you’re a longtime reader of The Dizzying Heights, you will know that I’m a huge lover of self-care. It’s so important to take time out for yourself and reconnect with the things you love doing that you may not have time for in your busy schedules.

I try and do a self-care routine every week (may be excessive for some people, but I look forward to my Self-Care Sundays!). I chose Sundays because I generally don’t have plans to go out on Sundays so it’s the easiest day of the week for me to have a lie in and take care of myself. So I thought I would share my top tips for the ultimate pamper day and with the bank holiday weekend on our doorstop, you have no excuse not to indulge!

So here are my 10 top tips for having a lil’ pamper day of your own (obvs you can pick and choose / amend these to things that make you feel good etccc)!

1. Face Mask

I mean, this wouldn’t be a pamper day without a face mask would it?! They are one of my all-time favourite things to do on a chill day. I have ~quite~ a few face masks now, most of them are from The Body Shop – they really do have some of the best face masks on the high street – but if you have any faves that you think I should try, please do leave me a lil’ comment below! I quite fancy making my own face mask out of things that I have in my kitchen so when I get a chance, I shall definitely pop a recipe up on my blog! 2. Eye Mask

I was sent this really cool eye mask* from Feel Good Contacts, and as soon as I opened it, I couldn’t wait to try it! I knew it would make the best addition to my chill pamper days! I also love the colour, it’s a gorgeous aqua blue and to me it’s the colour of calm – perfect for a day of relaxing. It helps with puffy eyes and headaches, and you can also use it hot (by warming it up in the microwave for up to 20 seconds) or cold (by freezing it for up to 2 hours). I tried it cold, and it had such a nice cooling effect. For anyone who regularly gets headaches or migraines, definitely give it a try!


3. Hair Mask

In keeping with the theme of masks so far in this blog post (!!!), a hair mask is a must for me on a pamper day. I love having a clean face, and a clear head, so why should my hair be any different? I will be writing an updated version of my haircare routine, as I have acquired a lot of new haircare products, but leaving a hair mask in my hair 20 mins before washing and conditioning it just makes it so softer and feeling more healthy. One of my most simple and favourite hair masks ever is full fat mayonnaise – incredible! But this other home-made hair mask that I use is made using:

– 1/2 cup honey

– 2 Tbsp olive oil

– 1 egg yolk

– 1 whole avocado

You could eat it if you wanted to, not sure if you’d want to but you have the option!


4. Manicure

I’m often a rubbish excuse for a girl, and most days I wear no nail polish because my nails smudge or chip almost straightaway so I just think there’s no point sometimes! But when I’m having a pamper day, I like going the full hog and pushing the boat out so I do like giving myself a manicure. I also love watching nail art videos on Instagram, especially the bit where they paint the clear top coat, so satisfying to watch!

5. Foot Soak

If I’m going to treat my hands, I might as well treat my feet right? Our feet walk us around all day, and I don’t know about you but I rarely treat my feet to any kind of relaxation. I do have a foot massager, but I use this great 15 min foot soak that you can basically make with things you have lying in your kitchen. It makes my feet feel super soft and relieves muscle pain.

– 1/2 cup mouthwash

– 1/2 cup vingar

– 1 cup water

Feel free to paint your toenails after thoroughly drying your now fabulous feet!


6. Having a Bath

This list of things certainly isn’t a timeline of events! I actually am not the biggest fan of baths, I prefer a quick 15 min shower to do everything I need to. But when it comes to relaxing, I do think that having a bath is one of the best ways to do it. I personally can’t have the water too hot, otherwise I start sweating and let’s face it, that’s not fun for anyone! Throw some Radox in there and you have yourself a par-tay (not really, you have yourselves a bath, but you get the point).

7. Water + Lemon + Mint

When you have a hot bath (like I can’t stand), I have to have some cold water besides me so that I don’t overheat! I always pop some lemon and mint in there, basically because that’s what they serve at the spa ha. But it genuinely makes water tastes super fresh and I love sippin’ on this! I usually leave the mint and lemon to infuse in the fridge overnight, but it doesn’t matter if you add it last minute either!

8. Candles

You’ll know I’m a huge candle fan based on the insane amount of candle blog posts I’ve done on this blog (read them here and here) so I won’t be banging on about why candles are so amazing – you already know that! So if you need to relax, you can’t go wrong with lighting a couple of lovely scented candles and enjoying the ambience.


9. Netflix & Chill

Giving this phrase a whole new meaning! If you haven’t noticed me banging on about how much I love sticking Netflix on, then where have you been?! Depending on what you’re watching (see my recommendations here and here), it can make you feel super chilled, and there’s nothing better to unwind from a long week!


10. Sleepy Tea

I’ve spoken about this amazing tea before (read that post here), but to finish off the best pamper days mean getting the best night’s sleep. Everytime I drink this tea before bed, I have the most peaceful sleep, and wake up refreshed and energised for the day ahead. When you do this routine on a Sunday, it’s perfect because it preps for you the week ahead!

A Christmas Self-Care Box


You may or may not agree, but for me one of the best things about Christmas is giving gifts to loved ones. It’s genuinely the best feeling seeing your family opening presents that you’ve spent so much time and effort in finding. Making presents personal is always fun, and I feel like personal presents take the edge from a good present to a great present.

This year I’ve decided to make my own self-care gift boxes. They are just so easy to make, and so easy to personalise to give it that special touch. So when Amara* asked me to pick out a few things from their website, I thought it was the perfect way to fill up my self-care box!

I decided to make mine using products that I personally would love to see, and things that I would be able to relax with, because the whole point of self-care is just take care of yourself! The beauty of choosing the products is that you can tailor it to the recipient, which I think makes gifts even more special.

  •  A Candle. As you can tell from a lot of blog posts here at The Dizzying Heights, I like love candles. Especially around this time of year when it’s chilly outside! I just think there is nothing better than coming home and lighting a few candles for light, warmth and a lovely scent! My favourite candles are from Bath and Body Works, but as they’re not available in the UK, I’d have to stick with Yankee!   • Slippers*. This is such a big one for feeling extra cosy, when I get home I put my comfy slippers on (after obvs changing into PJ’s), and you just feel so relaxed! It also helps that these slippers* from Amara are super soft, and they make such a great gift too! I know because I would love slippers for Christmas (in fact I end up buying new slippers around this time of year anyways – whoops)!



  • Nail Polish. As well as having things in the box to help you relax, I would love to open a self-care box and see things in there to help you feel a bit fancy and glam. I think nail polish is the perfect little pressie to add to this box, and if it’s a festive colour then extra brownie points for you!


  • Tea. I’ve written a huge blog post, which you can read here about my love of tea (with extra thanks going to teapigs) so I won’t bore you all by explaining why I love tea – I just do! As this box is to take care of yourself and to remind you to have some ‘me-time’, I thought that tea just had to make an appearance. I love sitting on the sofa in a onesie or some cosy PJ’s and watching a Christmas film with a cup of tea. No better feeling!


  • Face mask. I couldn’t write a blog post about self-care without mentioning a face mask. I just absolutely love them! To me, they scream Sunday evenings and I think they are so important for taking care of your skin as well as giving you an excuse to relax in the bath (whilst waiting for the mask to do its magic of course).   • Eye mask. Getting a good night’s sleep is so important and occasionally I get a bout of insomnia, which completely sucks. But at least I have become a pro at how to at try and get some sleep on these sleepless nights. As well as a pillow spray, my trusty snoozy teapigs tea and a hot shower, I have started to use an eye-mask to block out any unnecessary sunlight. I have to say that it has worked wonders and this beautiful one from Amara* is so pretty that I feel a little bit cute wearing it.


If I had more space in the box, I would have added maybe some festive shower gel or a bath bomb, and perhaps a nice notebook and matching pen. The beauty of these boxes is that you can tailor it to the person and also it doesn’t need to break the bank, because the majority of the products can be found at really good prices! Also, it’s always the thought that counts, not how you spend, which is something I really like to remember at this time of the year.

I think this idea is so lovely, and as well as making the contents personal, you can also make the box personal. I actually bought this box from Poundland (would you believe!!!) because I thought it was decorated so nicely, but you could buy a plain cardboard box and decorate it with stamps or Christmassy illustrations – the possibilities are endless!
